Alan V. Lucker

Alan V. Lucker, 97, of St. Joseph passed away in his sleep at his home on Sunday, October 7, 2012. Services celebrating his life will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 12, at the Dey-Florin Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in St. Joseph. Burial of the ashes will follow the service in Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Lincoln Township. Friends may call beginning at Noon on Friday at the Dey-Florin Chapel. Alan was born on November 15, 1914 in St. Joseph to Frederick and Barbara (Rieth) Lucker. He married his wife, Katherine Swikoski, in 1940 and she preceded him in death in 1991. Together they celebrated 51 years of marriage. Alan retired from Auto Specialties in 1976. He was a life long resident of St. Joseph and he dearly loved the property that he lived on for the past 70 years where he raised his four sons. Over the years he and his wife cultivated many plants and flowers and raised numerous farm animals on their property. Alan had a wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his sons, Tim Lucker of St. Joseph, Dan (Pam) Lucker of St. Joseph, Doug Lucker of St. Joseph, and Jonathan (Lynn) Lucker of Decatur; his sister, Helen Berndt; his four grandchildren, Kimm Siewert, Liz (Jeff) Crouse, Paul (Amy) Lucker and Jennifer (Bryan) Fillwock, and his six great grandchildren, Gage, Sidney, Lukas, Lilly, Donovan and Amanda. He was also preceded in death by 15 brothers and sisters.
