Anne J. Mazanke Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Anne J. Mazanke passed away peacefully at The Whitcomb Retirement Residence on Friday, February 24, 2012. Anne was born April 3, 1917 in Calumet, Michigan to Isaac and Hilda (Wilmer) Seppanen. She graduated from Calumet High School. On May 11, 1940 she married Peter Paul Rolando, also from Calumet. They lived most of their married life in Roseville, Michigan. Peter preceded her in death in 1969. She then lived in Big Rapids, Michigan for 17 years before moving to Alpena, Michigan where she met and married Edmund Mazanke, who preceded her in death in 1997. She moved to St. Joseph in 1997. Anne was a giving and caring person, and helping her family, friends, and neighbors brought her much happiness. She enjoyed sewing for her family and friends, even making choir robes for her church in Big Rapids. Anne loved nature and especially birds. She always had a love for the “Copper Country” in Keweenaw Peninsula that was her home when she was a girl, and would get back to the Copper Country as often as possible. Anne is survived by her three children, Peter P. Rolando (Paula), Michael J. (Sandra) Rolando, and Ann Marie (Gerry) Blasko, and five grandchildren, John Rolando, Amanda (Adam) Rutledge, Craig (Jessica) Blasko, Mary Ann (Chad) Milletics, and Scott Blasko, and six great grandchildren, Kole, Brady and Kellen Blasko, Maya and Wyatt Milletics, and Porter Rutledge. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lillian (George) Takala, Aileen (Matthew) Sutinen, Elsie (Matthew) Mattson, Ruth (Robert) Thiem, and brother, Edwin Seppanen. A service will be held at First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2012, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be in the Spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Calumet. Arrangements have been handled by the Dey-Florin Chapel of Florin Funeral Service, St. Joseph.
