Bertha Mae Hindmon Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Bertha Mae Hindmon, 86, of Coloma Township, passed away late Monday, June 11, 2012, at her home. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00, on Thursday, June 14, at the Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service, 249 E. Center Street, in Coloma with Pastor Tom Langston officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shores. Visitation will be held this evening, Wednesday, from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Hospice at Home or to the Coloma General Baptist Church. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.florin.net. Bertha was born on February 9, 1926, in Dunklin County, Missouri to Jessie and LueElla Jackson. Bertha married James W. Hindmon on June 5, 1942, together had five children, and moved to Southwest Michigan in 1950. James worked for and retired from the Whirlpool Corporation. Bertha enjoyed homemaking activities including gardening, picking blueberries, canning, sewing and crocheting, and making her homemade biscuits. Additionally she enjoyed going to garage sales. Most of all, Bertha cherished time spent with her family. Bertha is survived by her children, Lola (Jay) Smith of Lawton, Michigan, Sandra Maas of Coloma, James (Karen) Hindmon of Watervliet, and Donald Hindmon of Coloma; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; special nieces, Wilma Bauschke and Merle Main; and by numerous other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, James and by her two daughters, LueElla Brown and Fernalee Hindmon; and by 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
