Bessie Mae Robertson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Bessie Mae Robertson, 83, of Watervliet passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Jordan Nursing Home in Bridgman. Services celebrating her life will be held at 1 PM on Monday, December 19, at the Dey-Florin Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in St. Joseph. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 11 AM on Monday at the Dey-Florin Chapel. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association or the Humane Society. Please share memories, messages and photos at www.florin.net. Bessie was born on December 20, 1927 in Wilson, AR to Allen and Bessie White. She married her husband, Charles “Tommy” Robertson, on November 8, 1945 and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2000. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage. She worked in the Credit Dept at Sears for over 15 years before she retired in 1978. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Bessie was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed crafts and knitting. She was a kind and gentle person to whom her family was the most important part of her life. She is survived by her grandsons, David (Stephanie Vargo) Robertson of Paw Paw, SFC Christopher (Shannon) Robertson of Fayetteville, NC and Jon Todd Robertson of FL; her sisters, Jessie Brown of GA and Mary Sowell of Maryland; her 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles Robertson, Jr., in 1990.
