Coloma – Billie “Boots” Bell Phebus, 80, of Paw Paw Lake, left this world on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Coloma. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.florin.net. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Coloma United Methodist Church 144 S. Church St., in Coloma with Pastor Ron VanLente officiating. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Boots was an amazingly strong woman. She touched many lives and left happiness and laughter wherever she went. Boots was born on November 9, 1931, in Fewell, Oklahoma and moved to her beloved Paw Paw Lake at age 16 with her family. She was president of her 1950 senior class and maintained many life-long friends from her years at Coloma High School. Boots was a long-time member of the Coloma United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked for many years at the Watervliet Paper Company from which she retired when the company closed it doors. Boots loved her dogs, Little Bit, Oliver, and Timmy, spending time with her grandchildren, sailing, playing cards, and spending time with her friends. Most of all, she loved living on her beautiful Paw Paw Lake. Boots was preceded in death by her parents, Laura Grace Gamble Bell and Gordon Kenneth Bell; sister Betty Bell McCoy in 1989; and by her former husband Charles in 2008. Boots is survived by her children, Deb (Todd) Kienzle of Toledo, Ohio and Stuart (Angela) Phebus of Hartford; grandchildren, Page, Stefan, and Tess Kienzle and Hailey and Trevor Phebus; many beloved nieces nephews; and by countless friends.
