Catherine “Kay” Sherwood, 87, of Stevensville passed away peacefully on Monday morning, December 22, 2015, at home in the care of her family and Hospice. Family services celebrating her life will be held at later date. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are by the Florin Funeral Service. Kay was born on March 27, 1928 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY to Francis and Victoria Smith. She married her husband, Harry C. Sherwood, on June 18, 1949 and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2009. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. For many years she and her husband lived in the New York area where Harry was a salesman for several oil companies. Later in life they moved to Southwest Michigan to be closer to their family. Here, Kay and Harry joined the Misfits singing group and did that for 10 years, singing at hospitals and the different venues around town. They also sang at the Berrien County Youth Fair for many years. Kay loved to shop and was a great cook. She was a strong willed direct individual who was always laughing and telling stories. Kay had a wonderful personality and had many friends and acquaintances over the years. She was loving and caring to her family and everyone she knew. She will be greatly missed. She leaves behind her children, Dr. Craig Sherwood of St. Joseph, Karen (Bill) Hart of Stevensville and Scott Sherwood of Stevensville; her brother, Michael Smith of Port Lucie, FL; her 5 grandchildren, Aneda, Amanda, Matthew, Ian and Allison and her 4 great-grandchildren, Zoe, Nathan, Allison, and Logan.
