Donald E. Unruh, 79, of St. Joseph died on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at his residence. A visitation celebrating his life will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, September 25, with a sharing of memories at 7:30 PM at the Dey-Florin Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in St. Joseph. Don was born on Sept. 24, 1934 in Baroda to Edward and Francis Unruh. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. He married, Janet Gettig on June 27, 1959 and she preceded him in death in 2013. Together they celebrated 53 years of marriage. Don retired in 1993 from the US Postal Service after 40 years of employment. Don was a great father and grandfather. He is survived by his sons, Bruce Unruh of Benton Harbor and Brad Unruh of Coloma; his grandson Donovan Unruh; his brother, Ralph (Betty) Unruh of Sawyer; his sisters, Eleanor (Robert) Bell of Niles, Norma Walden of Sawyer and Joyce (William) Clark of Galien. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Witkowski.
