Duane “Doc” Cameron, 87, of Burlington, IA and formerly of Coloma died Friday, June 20, 2014, at his home. Services celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 26, at the Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Coloma. The visitation will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday at the Davidson Chapel. Burial will be in North Shore Memory Gardens. Please share memories, messages or photos at www.florin.net. Doc was born on July 8, 1926 in South Bend, IN. He married his wife, Leora, in 1953 and she preceded him in death in 1997. He was a veteran of the Air Force during WW II and served in the Pacific Theater where he was shot down three times. He is a member of the Coloma American Legion and the VFW. Doc was employed at Gast Manufacturing for 35 years before retiring in 1985. He was also a former member of the Benton Harbor Moose Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and traveling especially going to south Texas in the winter. Doc always liked to talk with people and never met a stranger. He was a generous hard working individual who was kind and easy going. He is survived by his daughters, Rita (Leroy Raymond) Cameron of Watervliet and Jenny (Scott Evans) Cameron-Evans of Coloma; his grandchildren, Paisley, Amber, Amanda, and Anthony; his 5 great grandchildren and his significant other, Barbara Turk, of Burlington, IA.
