Florence Jackson
June 5, 1926 - December 13, 2021
A woman of pearls with great wisdom, a prayer warrior, and faithful servant, was called home- earning her wings and taking her rightful place in His presence on Monday, December 13, 2021. This precious Gem was born to Leo and Pearlina Waters on June 5, 1926, in Blytheville, Arkansas. At the age of 12, she had a humble heart and a hunger for Jesus Christ. However, it wasn’t until her early twenties, after hearing the word under the late W.H. Hunter, pastor and spiritual father of Bethlehem Temple Pentecostal’s humble beginnings on Main Street in Benton Harbor, Michigan, that she found and ended that search with a Holy Ghost filled encounter and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as she often spoke about. In October of 1940, she united in matrimony to Converst Jackson. That marriage produced a daughter, also named Florence. As a couple, they moved from Arkansas to Benton Harbor. Mother Florence then earned a cosmetologist degree, becoming one of the first black owned business in Benton Harbor called Charming Ladies, for approximately 30 years. She then retired, taking care of her husband. Mother Florence is also known as a Sunday school teacher as well as a missionary, taking time with the elderly and disabled. She even housed the blind when families needed a break. She would make time to transport the elderly saints to and from church as well as long trips to church conventions. She would go visit the shut ins frequently. Most of all, she was a phone call away to share her wisdom and, above all, prayer. In celebrating her going home, she leaves one daughter Acquinita (Richard) Rudley of California and granddaughter Letecia Lynn Henderson of Michigan A special thanks to 3 great granddaughters; Sharonda Clark, Antoinette Bridges, and Flarasha Bess, that devoted special care in her time of need and a 4th great grandchild, Jazymne Jackson, assisting in her final care. She was also blessed with nine more grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. What a blessing! Florence has two sisters; Pastor Isabella Brazier of California and Elverna Waters of California. She has numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Obbie Waters, her mother Pearlina Waters, her father Leo Waters, her daughter Florence Mae Henderson, grandson Vottus M. Henderson, husband Converst Jackson, and great grandson Tavon Jackson. Services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM.
