    Fred A. Watts

    September 26, 1936 - February 19, 2013

    Fred A. Watts, 76, of Stevensville, passed away Tuesday evening, February 19, 2013, at his home. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 25, at the Stevensville Seventh-day Adventist Church, 6657 Stevensville-Baroda Road, in Stevensville, with Pastor Stanley Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M., at the Dey- Florin Funeral Home, 2506 Niles Ave., in St. Joseph. Masonic Rites will be recited at 5:00. Memorials may be made to either the Berrien County Cancer Service, the Stevensville Seventh-day Adventist Church, or to the Alano House in Stevensville. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.florin.net. Fred was born September 26, 1936, in Coloma. He was one of two children born to Frederick and Florence Watts. Fred married Leslie Scherer on August 30, 1987. He worked as a spot welder for Weil-Mc Lane for over 35 years prior to his retirement. Fred umpired both softball and baseball in Coloma for over 20 years. He enjoyed flower gardening, feeding birds, and caring for his beloved pets. He was a Life-Member of the Coloma Masonic Lodge and served as Past Master in 1969. Fred was a long-time faithful member of the Stevensville Seventh-day Adventist Church. Fred’s motto in life was “to live life in harmony with people” and this was evident with his desire to always help his neighbors in need. Fred is survived by his wife, Leslie; sister, Jane (Brian) Watts-Salus of Virginia; nephews, Erik (Kristine) Salus and Kyle (Christine) Salus; eight great-nieces and nephews; and by numerous friends and extended family. Fred was preceded in death by his parents.
