George “Bud” Darling, 78, of Coloma died Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph. Services celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, Feb 19, at the Faith Lutheran Church on Paw Paw Ave in Coloma. Burial will follow in Coloma Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 PM to 8 PM on Monday at the Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Coloma. Memorials may be made to the family or to the Humane Society. Bud was born on Aug 13, 1940 in Hartford Township to George and Mary Darling, Sr. He married his wife, Martha Quigley, in 1963 and together they have celebrated 55 years of marriage. He was employed for 25 years at the Watervliet Paper Mill from 1969 to 1994. He then was employed for 9 years at the National Copper Products Co in Dowagiac before he retired. Bud was a long time member of the Faith Lutheran Church. He loved Detroit sports teams and NASCAR. He also enjoyed classic cars and trucks and working on them. He was a hard worker who was lovable and accepted others. Bud was funny and had a dry sense of humor and loved to talk with other people especially at his favorite restaurant the Hot Spot. His family includes his wife, Martha, his daughters, Katherine Darling of Coloma, Carol Darling of Coloma and Lori (Larry) Jeffers of Massillon, OH; his brothers, Paul (Nikki) Darling of Coloma and Karl Darling of Coloma; his sisters, Linda (Greg) Darling of Niles and Irene Tinkey of Mansfield, OH; his grandchildren, Michael, Rachel, and Erin and his many nieces and nephews including his special nephew, Pauley Darling. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky, 1972, his parents and his sisters, Lorraine and Marylou.
