George Francis Romeo Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

George Francis Romeo, Sr., 84, of St. Joseph, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, at The Willows in St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 5:00 PM at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 555 Delaware Avenue, Benton Harbor with Fr. Bill Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Final Resting place will be Calvary Cemetery, Benton Harbor. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Dey-Florin Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in St. Joseph and messages of condolence may be sent to www.florin.net. George was born on February 11, 1928 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He was one of five children born to Albert and Josephine (Stillo) Romeo. On March 5th, 1949 he married Joan Deaner, and they were married 54 years before her death in 2003. George retired many years ago, was in auto sales for 45 years including LeValley Oldsmobile-Cadillac GMC in Benton Harbor, Coloma Motor Sales and Klum Oldsmobile. He was a long-time member of St. John-St. Bernard Catholic parish in Benton Harbor. He was active with the Coloma American Legion. George is survived by his daughter Marci (Neil) Vernasco of St. Joseph, son George (Denise Littleton) Romeo, Jr. of Stevensville, daughter Nancy (Tim) Lechenet of St. Joseph; a brother Albert “Tony” (Virginia), Romeo of St. Joseph, sister Virginia “Ginger” Martin of St. Joseph; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his wife Joan; father and mother Albert and Josephine Romeo; brother Richard Romeo; sister Marie Crawford.
