Janice Doan

Janice Doan, 86, of Benton Harbor died Sunday, February 19, 2012, at her home. Services celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, February 22, at the Dey-Florin Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in St. Joseph with Rev. Douglas Hoyh officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 10 AM on Wednesday at the Dey-Florin Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Please share memories, messages or photos at www.florin.net. Janice was born on Dec. 31, 1925 in Braggadocio, MO to Bryant and Mamie Pate. She married her husband, Alva Doan on Aug. 21, 1944 in Benton Harbor and together they have celebrated 67 years of marriage. She was active in the Fairplain Assembly of God Church and more recently the First Assembly of God. Her faith was very important to her. Janice enjoyed cooking and traveling. Most of all Janice was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Alva; her children, Darryl (Sandy) Doan of Stevensville, Dennis Doan of Benton Harbor and Gary (Debbie) Doan of Edgewater, FL; her brothers, Winford Pate of Hayti, MO, Chuck (Phyllis) Pate of Portageville, MO, and Joel Pate of Los Angles, CA; her sisters, Nancy (Lonnie) Cagle of Caruthersville, MO and Patsie (A J) Tittrell of Tipley, FL; her 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Davison, in 2008.
