Joseph Jerome Schuebert, 78, of Benton Harbor passed away at home on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, with his dear friend and dance partner of 21 years, Tresnja Craig of Michigan City, IN, at his side. Services will be held at a later date and cremation has taken place. Burial of the ashes will be in Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Joseph was born on April 4, 1936 in Chicago to Joseph and Genevieve Schuebert. He has lived in the Benton Harbor community since 1955. He was a United States Army Veteran. Joseph was a ballroom dance instructor and Latin percussion musician. He started his dance career with Arthur Murray studios and most recently was an instructor for the Citadel Dance and Music Center in Benton Harbor. Joseph was an authority and published author on Latin American music. He was a recipient of the Luis Arnold Award for his knowledge of Latin American dances and percussion instruments. Joseph is also survived by his many dance students. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Eugene Schuebert.
