Lawrence "Red" Winnell Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lawrence “Red” Winnell, 83, of Stevensville, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Jordan’s Nursing Home in Bridgman. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Dey Florin Funeral Home, 2506 Niles Ave., in St. Joseph with Pastor Jack Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shores. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 6:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.florin.net. Lawrence was born on September 8, 1929, in Benton Harbor to Arvid and Lydia Winnell. He married Barbara Beilman on October 22, 1949. Lawrence retired from the Whirlpool Corporation after 40 years of service. He enjoyed overhauling automobile motors in his spare time and was “willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.” He enjoyed traveling and was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan. Most of all, Lawrence cherished time spent with his family and was affectionately known as the ‘Patriarch’ of his family. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Herb (Diane) of Paw Paw, Mark (special friend Kammi) of Stevensville, and Lawrence Joseph (Glenda) Winnell of Bridgman; grandchildren, Jacqueline (Nick) James, Shawn, Matthew (Courtney), Jason, Jovon, and Tiffany Winnell, Brittany (Jason) Pastrick, and Chelsea (Brandon) Kenreich;; great-grandchildren, Brodie and Aubrey; his brothers, Donald (Janet) Winnell and Vern (Bobbie) Winnell both of Coloma; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his daughters, Judith, Marsha, and Mary Beth; and by his brother Robert Winnell.
