Madalyn M. Smith Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Madalyn M. Smith, 93, of St. Joseph, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Lakeland Continuing Care Center. Services for Madalyn will be on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011at 11 a.m. at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service, 1053 E. Napier, Benton Harbor, with Fr. Alphonse officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Research. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.florin.net Madalyn was born June 21, 1918 in Farrell, Pennsylvania to Vendel and Mary (Bator) Krajcovic. In 1949, she married George Smith, Sr. and they were married for 46 years. Madalyn worked as a records clerk for J.C. Penney Co. for 30 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed Bingo and volunteering at St. John’s Thrift Shop and the Soup Kitchen. She is the mother of two sons, grandmother to six, and great-grandmother to one. She is survived by her two sons, George (Julie) and Michael (Donna), both of St. Joseph; six grandchildren, Tyraah (Cody) Tucker-Keller, Terry Tucker, Joseph Templeton, Greer, Reed and Cameron Smith; one great-grandchild Colin Cody Keller, all of St. Joseph. In addition to her parents and husband George, she was preceded in death by a sister and seven brothers.
