Marjean “Mickey” Sauser passed away on Sunday, February 9th at her home surrounded by the love of her family. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 14th, at Dey-Florin Funeral Home, 2506 Niles Avenue, in St. Joseph, with Deacon Mike Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, February 13th at Dey-Florin from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.florin.net. Mickey was born September 2, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Pearl Brandt. She grew up in Benton Harbor and graduated from Benton Harbor High School. She worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell Telephone Company during World War II. After the war, Mickey married Ed Sauser. They were married for 62 years before he preceded her in death on January 18, 2009. She also worked at her Mother’s Snack Shack on Paw Paw Lake in Coloma and as a switchboard operator at the Herald Palladium. Mickey enjoyed bowling. She loved the Chicago Cubs and especially listening to Ron Santo on the radio. Mickey loved sewing, spending time with her family, and gathering with her ‘lunch bunch’ at Babe’s lounge in Benton Harbor. Until about a year ago, she kept a daily diary with stories about her family and her wonderful friends. She is survived by her sons, Norm, St. Joseph, and Tim (Dr. Catherine Valenzuela), Portland, Oregon. Mickey is also survived by numerous loving relatives throughout the country. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Brandt who passed away in 1977.
