Benton Harbor – Matthew J. Craig, 39, of Benton Harbor, went to be with the Lord early Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 13, at The Chapel, 4250 Washington Avenue, in St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Ruggles Cemetery in Baroda. Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM on Sunday, May 12, at the Dey-Florin Chapel of Florin Funeral Service, 2506 Niles Ave., in St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Matt's family. Messages, memories, or photos may be shared at www.florin.net. Matt was born on February 14, 1974 in Ionia, Mi to James and Mary Craig. Matt was a joy to his family and friends. He loved to laugh, joke and tease and had a passion for hunting. He was friendly and kind; no one was a stranger to Matt. He is survived by his wife, Heather; his children, Kiersten, Allison, Caleb and Austin; his parents, James and Mary Craig; his sister, Katherine (Bradley) Johnson; his brother, Andrew (Robin) Craig; his nieces, Elizabeth and Ellen; his Grandmothers, Doris Van Laan and Elizabeth Craig; his Great-Aunt, Jean Van Laan; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Richard N. Craig in 1982 and Earl J. Van Laan in 2011.
