She grew up in Hartford and graduated from Hartford High School. On Oct 25, 1952, Muriel married the love of her life, Lewis Oliver Fellows, and they were blessed with over 50 years together. She worked for Community Hospital in Watervliet for over 25 years in Central Processing sterilizing and preparing instruments for surgery. Muriel enjoyed her work and the people she had the opportunity to work with and get to know. She loved her Lord and His church and served many years as a steward and nursery worker at the Watervliet Free Methodist Church and she more recently attended the Midway Baptist Church. Muriel also enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing many different foods. She mastered the art of cake decorating and made many special cakes that became the center of family celebrating. Family meant so much to Muriel and she was always putting her all into preparing and baking great meals. Her family includes her 4 children, Joyce (Roderick) Beebe of Watervliet, Lewis “Rick” (Karna) Fellows of Lawton, Daniel Fellows of Hartford and Stephen (Lerita) Fellows of Watervliet, her 3 sisters, Arletta Meachum, Dorothy Ryan and Margaret Everett Lindsey; her 9 grandchildren; her now 7 great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis, her parents, and her 2 brothers, James Davis and William "Wally" Traver.
