Robert E. Walker Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert E. Walker, 79, of Coloma died Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph. Services celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 16, at the Riverside United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends and relatives from 2 PM to 6 PM on Sunday at the Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Coloma. Memorials may be made to the Riverside United Methodist Church. Please share memories, messages or photos at www.florin.net. Bob was born on July 31, 1932 in Griffin, GA to Robert and Mamie Walker. Bob worked at Bemis Techmold in Norton Shores for over 20 years before he moved to this area. He was honored for 20 years of service to the Little League in Muskegon. He was a pattern maker and was employed at Whirlpool for 19 years before he retired in 1995. Bob was a longtime and active member of the Riverside United Methodist Church. He was also a Life Member of the SJ-BH Elks Clubs and a member of the DeClores Organization. Bob loved to golf and was a golf ranger at Lake Michigan Hills. He also enjoyed traveling. He never met a stranger and had a great sense of humor. Bob was a very family oriented and giving individual, who loved being with his family and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Martha; his children, Richard (Sherry) Walker of Jonesborough, TN. Pam (Darrell) Wieten of Muskegon, Bill (Diana) Walker of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jim (Karla) Walker, of Camden, TN; his step-children, Sally Thain of Elkhart, Jamie (Greg) Taylor of Coloma, James (Colleen) McKie of Las Vegas, and Brian McKie of Albany, GA; his brother, Alton (Jan) Walker of Fredericksburg, VA; his sisters, Darlene (Bruce) Anderson of Muskegon, and Val (Bob) VanderWal of Muskegon; his 14 grandchildren and his 11 great grandchildren.
