Susan L. McQuillan Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Susan L. McQuillan, 47, of Coloma, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, December 11, 2011, in her home. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 2:30 P.M., on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at the Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service, 249 E. Center Street, in Coloma, with Pastor Kevin Hester officiating. Burial will follow at Coloma Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00, Wednesday evening, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. Messages of condolence may be made to www.florin.net. Susan was born on February 15, 1964 in South Haven, Michigan. Her parents were Patricia & Creston Hauch and William Cochran. On December 8, 1983, she married Sean McQuillan. Together they had six children, who were her pride and joy. While her children were young, Susan returned to school and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Western Michigan University. She taught mathematics at L.C. Mohr High School in South Haven for 14 years prior to her illness. She enjoyed outdoor activities including gardening, fishing, and collecting rocks and fossils from the beach. One of her passions was restoring life whether it was old furniture or a kitten on the side of the road. Most of all, Susan cherished time spent with her family including her husband, children, parents, and her grandchildren. Susan is survived by her husband, Sean; children, Drew (Lindsay) of Coloma, Jared of Coloma, Rebecca (Josh Butler) of Chicago, Amanda of Coloma and Jason of Coloma; grandchildren, Madison, Brodie, and Seth; parents, Patricia (Creston) Hauch and William (Kathy) Cochran; and by her siblings, Sheila (Kevin) Hickmott, Jonalynn Cochran-Nash, Tony (Holly) Cochran, and Greg (Lisa) Cochran; by various cousins, nieces, and nephews, and by her beloved pets, Lady, Jessie, Phoebe, Tiger Lily, and Tulip. Susan was preceded in death by son, Stephen.
