South Haven - Thurman K. Wells, 62, of South Haven, formerly of Benton Harbor, passed away on Sept. 19, 2013 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, September 23, 2013, at the Davison Chapel of Florin Funeral Service, 249 E. Center Street, in Coloma with Pastor Tom Langston officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shores. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until the time of the service, Monday morning, at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent made to the Activities Fund at Countryside Nursing Home in South Haven. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.florin.net. Thurman was born March 25, 1951 in Watervliet. He was one of four children born to William and Mae Wells. Thurman was employed by the Whirlpool Corporation until the early 1980’s. A talented musician, Thurman wrote music and play guitar and banjo in several bands including - “Charlie Mott and the Jokers” “Variety 77” at the Joker’s Club. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Thurman will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Thurman is survived by his daughter, Dana Ward of Hartford; granddaughter, Krystin Ward; and by his brother, Lloyd (Janet) Wells of Benton Harbor. Thurman was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sibling, Ewin Wells and Arveta Butler.
