Annie Lee Pulliam

St. Joseph – Annie Lee Pulliam, 85, of St. Joseph, formerly of Benton Harbor, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 27, 2011, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Saturday, March, 5, 2011, at the Bread of Life Missionary Baptist Church, 348 E. Empire, in Benton Harbor. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until the time of the service, Saturday, at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Harbor. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.florin.net. Annie was born on June 6, 1925, in Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas. She was the only child of Isaiah and Julia (Hollins) Horton. She received her salvation at the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Gilmore, AR under the leadership of Rev. Cash and Rev. G.C. Simpson. She worked as a cook for many years in a nursing home in Marked Tree, AR. Annie had eight children. She was a long-time member and Mother of the Bread of Life Missionary Baptist Church in Benton Harbor. She loved children and was known as the neighborhood-mother by many. Most of all, Annie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished time spent with her family. Annie is survived by her children, Mary (Robert) Russell of Madison, IL, Shirley Wallace of Benton Harbor, Ella Taylor of Benton Harbor, Billy Cheatham of Benton Harbor, Leroy (Betty) Clifton of Gilmore, AR, Richard (Marene) Clifton of Cheyenne, WY, Tony Clifton of Cheyenne, WY, and Malaundja (Alvin) Calloway-Johnson of Grand Rapids; 22 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; special cousins, Annie Ruth Linzy and David (Lois) Dillard; sister-in-law, Lillian Pulliam; and by her special friends, Addie Jenkins, Willie Mae (Jessie) Allen and Georgia Kirby. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Pulliam; mother, Julia Cheatham; step-father, Clarence Cheatham; daughter, Annie Jewel Calloway; two grandchildren, Diane Clifton and Paul Wallace, Jr.; and by her son-in-law, Paul Wallace.
