Bonnie Rae Saurbier

Bonnie Rae Saurbier was born on November 23, 1928, to William and Laura (McAllister) Saurbier at their home in Eau Claire, Michigan. She passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at Hanson Hospice Center following a brief hospital stay. Bonnie was preceded in death by her sisters; Ellen Saurbier, Mona (Fred) Peters, and Helen (Albert) Partridge, her brother; Kenneth (Erna) Saurbier, and her nephews Bill Partridge, Mike Peters, and James "jim" Saurbier. Bonnie is lovingly remembered by her nephews; Terry Peters, Jim (Deborah) Peters, and Brian Partridge, her nieces; Nancy (Ed) Shaffer and Janice D’Agostino, as well as many great and great, great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her caregiver and special friend of fourteen years; Shaya Jackson. Bonnie graduated from Benton Harbor High School and began her career working for Ma Bell (AT&T) as a switchboard operator. She later became a credit manager at Mercy Memorial Medical Center, where she dedicated 21 years of service before retiring in 1998. Following retirement, she served as an office manager for Dr. Polansky. She was a longtime and devoted member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where she was fondly remembered as a sweet and kind lady. Bonnie had a love for travel and was an avid bowler, earning an impressive collection of trophies over the years. She adored her dogs and delighted family and friends with stories about them. She also enjoyed baking and was well known for sharing her special homemade fudge with loved ones. A devoted Cubs fan, Bonnie frequently traveled to Chicago to attend games. Though she never had children of her own, she became like a second mother to her nieces and nephews, showering them with love and creating many cherished memories. Bonnie shared a particularly close bond with her sister Ellen, and the two lived together until Ellen’s passing in March of 2016. In accordance of Bonnie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Services celebrating Bonnie’s life will be held at the Florin Funeral and Cremation Service in Benton Township, Michigan on Friday, February 20, at 1:00 pm, with visitation beginning at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a local animal shelter or to the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church of Sodus. Bonnie will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
