Robert G. Peters

Sodus – Robert Glenn “Bud” Peters, 84, of Sodus, passed away Friday, December 18, at home under the care of Hospice of Lakeland and surrounded by his family. Bud was born in Zion, IL, February 8, 1925, to Joseph and Emma (Now) Peters. Bud graduated from Benton Harbor High School and proudly served with the United States Navy during WWII as a Diesel Mechanic. On February 7, 1948, he married Lenna Johnson in Benton Harbor. They had two sons, Kenneth & Larry. Bud worked for the Whirlpool Corp. for a time, retired from Benton Harbor Engineering, and worked for Coloma Fruit Exchange for a short time. He also worked the family farm on Red Arrow Highway. Bud enjoyed hunting and went to South Dakota to go antelope hunting in October. He also enjoyed camping with his family, especially his grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 22, at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 4071 Naomi Road, in Sodus, with Pastor Jim Dibbet officiating. Visitation will be at the church, Tuesday, from 10:00 until the time of service. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Military Rites. Memorial donations may be made to the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church - Sodus. Services have been entrusted to the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service. Bud is survived by his son Kenneth (Christina) Peters of Sodus, former daughter-in-law, Molly Logan of Millburg; grandchildren, Kimberli (Patrick) Walsh of Sodus, Holly (Richard) Freeman of Benton Harbor, Anna Peters of Millburg, Andrew (Kimberly Stagg) Peters, Stephen (Amy) Peters of Millburg, Kellie Peters of Millburg, Amanda (Matthew Powell) Peters of Sodus; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Jacob, Michael, Bryce Peters, Alexandra, Autumn, Patrick Walsh, Richard, Anthony, & Makayla Freeman, Kyra Bailey, Christopher Oehler & Matthew Powell; brother, Joseph (Donna) Peters of Holland, MI; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife Lenna in 1995; son, Larry Peters in 2009; brothers, Kenneth & Wesley; sisters, Anna, Josephine, Willa, Edith, Helen, Elizabeth, & Lucille; and by his step-mother, Fannie Peters.
