Rosa L Newton

Rosa L. Newton, 92, of Benton Township died on Monday, March 9, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Services celebrating her life will be held Saturday, March 14, at the Safe Harbor Church, 3552 S. Pipestone Road in Sodus with Pastor Stanley Poland and D. Bill Miller officiating. The visitation will begin at 11 AM on Saturday with the service starting at noon. Rosa was born on October 24, 1933, in Tinsley, KY, to George and Mary Fuson. She married Clell Henderson in 1950 and they welcomed 3 daughters to their family over the next six years. He preceded her in death in 1964. Rosa later married Walter Newton, in 1967 and he preceded her in death in 1998. Rosa was a pharmacy technician at K-Mart for 25 years before retiring in 1998. Rosa was a member of the Church of God in Prophecy for close to 70 years. She was also a Prayer Warrier who spent her life praying for and taking care of others. Rosa held various positions in her church, including Sunday School teacher, Secretary/Treasurer, and many others. Her strong faith was extremely important to her. Rosa was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. Rosa was preceded in death by her daughters, Eva Williams in 1998 and Etta Little in 2024; two grandchildren; John Williams and Tara Garcia Richardson; her siblings Asileen, Mayme, Annabel, Betty Lou, Shirley, Margaret, and Patsy, along with many other family members. What a happy reunion they’re having! Rosa’s surviving family includes her daughter Corda (Richard) Moss of Decatur, MI; her brother, Jimmy Fuson of Shelby Township, MI; her 6 grandchildren; Jennifer Little, Jason (Crystal) Little, Julie Little, Richard (Cynthia) Moss, Jeana (Scott) Gervais, Bryan (Alexis) Moss, and her many great and great great grandchildren. A special thanks to her great grandson, Jeremiah Little, who was her care giver for several years. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Safe Harbor Church.
