Terry Leroy Peters

Terry Leroy Peters, 85, of St. Joseph, died Friday, August 8, 2026, at Woodland Terrace in St. Joseph. Family services will be held at a later time and cremation has taken place. Terry was born on October 31, 1940, in Benton Harbor, to Frederick and Mona Peters. He was married to his wife Judith for 25 years until her death. Terry worked for the Berrien County Probation Department for many years. He was a runner, and later a walker. He was an avid walker and he was very particular about his physical health. His family includes his brother James, his sister Nancy, and his brother-in-law Ed Schaefer. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Michael. Mary Jean Kennedy, 62, of Bridgman died at her home on Sunday, August 2, 2026. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, August 13, at the Bridgman American Legion Post, from 1 PM to 4 PM. Scattering of the ashes will be held at later date and cremation has taken place. Arrangements are by the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral and Cremation Service in Benton Township. Please leave messages or memories at www.florin.net. Mary was born on December 20, 1963, in Evergreen, Illinois to Ole and Margaret Stinson. She married her husband, Jerry, in Bridgman and he survives. Mary was employed by the food service at the Bridgman Public Schools where she was a cook. She was active in the Bridgman Public Schools and was employed over 25 years by them and most recently at the Bridgman High School. Mary had also worked at the Elementary School and the Middle School. For a short time Mary also worked at RESA. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch while drinking a glass of wine and watching the hummingbirds and orioles. Mary liked to go with her husband to the fireworks displays, enjoyed cooking and listening to music. Her family includes her husband, Jerry; her 3 daughters, Maggie (Skye) Kennedy of Grand Rapids, Colleen (Donald) Graham of Niles, and Caitlin Kennedy of Bridgman; her brother; her 4 sisters; and her 3 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy, in 2016. A sister and a brother also preceded.
